Watermelon Feast fun in the sun
125 watermelons, cut up into 8 pieces each, were used for "warfare" purposes by the eager students

Ladysmith High School’s (LHS) annual Watermelon Feast was held this afternoon (Friday) on the school’s rugby field.
125 watermelons, cut up into 8 pieces each, were used for “warfare” purposes by the eager students.
For some, it was their first time experiencing this type of fun, as watermelons were thrown and smeared all over each other. For many others, they have gone through these festivities over the years and never grown tired of the occasion that heralds the beginning of a brand new year.
All grades took part and had the opportunity to “run wild”, whether taking time out to eat their tasty watermelon or use it as a weapon against some other unsuspecting pupil.
As is the case every time this festival is held, the sports ground was abuzz with activity – everyone looking for their next “target”.
One and all thoroughly enjoyed the day, even if it was a rather “sticky situation”.
