Facebook is back up but service is sporadic

Reports have filtered in that it may have been a DOS attack (denial-of-service), but this has not been confirmed

Facebook and Instagram, the social networking websites popular with users across the world, have been experiencing technical difficulties. The sites are back up, but seem to be slower than normal.

Facebook said on its website that it was working to resolve the issues which forced many people to use Twitter to share opinions, selfies and more for over two hours. Users found they could not use the social media websites or apps this morning.

Users were greeted with the following message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as possible.” Reports have filtered in that it may have been a DOS attack (denial-of-service), but this has not been confirmed.
