THE ‘MUTILATION’ of six-year-old Khanyisani Khumalo in Paulpietersburg in December last year, left his family and community members reeling in shock.
The body of the six-year-old was sent for a post-mortem, which is said to have shown that the child may have actually drowned as opposed to previous detections that he had been disembowelled and beheaded.
According to a report by the SAPS, their medical reporters have given out information that the boy drowned in the Manzanini River.
According to the report, doctors suspect that a wild animal of some sort tore at the child’s flesh, as his head was not found and his stomach had been ripped open but the body showed no signs of foul play.
Tests are still being done on the body for more accurate results and the police say that the search for suspects will be put on hold until it is confirmed whether the boy drowned or was brutally murdered as was previously suspected.
