Wagendrift Challenge kicks off on Sunday

Hosted at the beautiful Wagendrift Dam Boating Club, the Wagendrift Challenge gets underway this Sunday, February 1.This multi-sport event includes a biathlon; a triathlon; a 20km trail run and a 20km mountain bike ride. “The biathlon and triathlon may be done individually or in teams and includes a 1km swim; 5km run and a 10km mountain bike ride,” said one of the committee members.The trail run and MTB course takes participants through a scenic private game reserve, where they may see kudu, wildebeest and zebra among other wildlife.

“The route consists of a few stream crossings and nice flowing track. “You will have a chance to take in the beautiful scenery of the dam and surroundings,” he added.There are camping and/or caravan sites available for accommodation; contact Wagendrift Dam directly on 036 352 5520 to make a booking.This is a great event for the whole family as there is an activity to suit each individual, so make sure that you don’t miss out!There will be food and refreshments sold at the event. Once you have completed the challenge you can enjoy the day at the dam with your family.
