Top matric achievers receive bursaries from uThukela
MEC for Safety and Security Mr Willies Mchunu graced the function with his presence
uThukela District Municipality held an awards function at the Indoor Sports Complex on Tuesday last week to honour last year’s top-performing matriculants. 2014’s top achievers in Grade 12 were presented with bursaries, laptops, modems and bags to help them further their education.
MEC for Safety & Security Mr Willies Mchunu graced the function with his presence.
Also in attendance were mayors from within the Uthukela district, councillors and proud parents of the award recipients.
Sthembiso Zondo from uKhozi FM gave a motivational speech to the students about their future and how they must behave at university, while Sipho ‘Sgqemeza’ Mbatha (also from uKhozi FM) was the programme director at the function.
The laptops were handed out by MEC Willies Mchunu and uThukela Mayor Dudu Mazibuko.
Lunch was then served, and the band ‘Precious Songs’ provided the musical entertainment.
