THE DUZI Canoe Marathon, between Pietermaritzburg and Durban, starts next week Thursday, February 19. The Duzi is known to be one of the toughest endurance races in South Africa.
Multi-Duzi marathonists Martin Potgieter and Cliff Glen will be doing the marathon together this year, and raising funds in the process for a 14-year-old boy who is battling with cancer and its costs.
Martin has himself recently had another major cancer operation. He has had his colon and spleen removed, and is now living with an ileostomy. This will be his 23rd Duzi that he will be attempting, while Cliff will be tackling his 20th.
Anyone who can help in this fund raising effort is asked to contact Danielle Barrie-Smith at 082 828 2116 or Martin at 078 857 2259.
