Vryheid High School – Swimmers go the extra mile

On Thursday, February 12, love blossomed at VHS when we held our annual Valentine’s Dance in the school hall. Our sincere thanks to Mej L Schoeman and her helpers for all their hard work to make this a special occasion.

 

NINE VHS learners swam the Midmar Mile on February 7 and 8 this year.

Participants: A Kohlmeyer; T von Benecke; D Wood; M Dedekind; K Hellberg; K Kohlmeyer; K Verschuuren and C Marques. Astrid Kohlmeyer also completed her first 8-Mile, swimming four miles on Saturday and the rest on Sunday. All the swimmers enjoyed this challenge. Well done!

Athletics: On Saturday, February 14, 25 VHS athletes participated in the Newcastle Interschools’ Invitation Athletics meeting. Although all the results are not yet available, we do know that G Smit achieved the following: 400m hurdles u/19 first place, 200m u/19 first place. In both these events he set new records. Well done, Gerhard. We appreciate the educators who offered up their Saturday to act as officials at this event.
