Fun enduro at Drakensville

A large number of avid bikers hopped onto their metal machines early on Sunday morning to raise money for charity

The Ladysmith Lions Club held a fun enduro motor-cross event at Drakensville on Sunday.

A large number of avid bikers hopped onto their metal machines early on Sunday morning to raise money for charity. Young and old took part in the event, which was in the form of a 40km ride up the mountain, with treacherous terrain and steep uphill and downhill stretches to challenge the riders.

The sound of revving motorbikes could be heard across the Drakensberg mountains as the participants warmed up their engines and then took off on the scenic route.

Even the little ones rode, with the help of moms, dads, brothers or sisters.

Food and drinks were served to non-competitors waiting at the finish line for their loved ones to complete the gruelling course. A large crowd of family and friends gathered to cheer for the motorcyclists as they arrived one by one, happy in the knowledge that they had given of their time to help a worthy cause.
