On Saturday, February 28, Majuba Tentpegging Club will be hosting their annual tentpegging competition at the Newcastle Show Grounds

Tentpegging, otherwise known as Gymkhana, is a well-known Equestrian sport in which riders participate in various levels of competition ranging from Local to National.

On Saturday, February 28, Majuba Tentpegging Club will be hosting their annual tentpegging competition at the Newcastle Show Grounds. The event will begin at 7.30am and will continue into the late afternoon. The club invited residents to visit and personally judge the sport.

Riders from Durban, Bethlehem, Pretoria, Harrismith, Vryheid, Memel, Normandien and Newcastle are expected to participate this year. One of Amajuba’s senior riders, Paul Rose-Nel, participated in the Senior SA Championships, which was held in Beaufort West in September 2014. He came home with 3 gold medals.

Newcastle’s junior riders took part in the junior SA Championships held in Bethlehem in December 2014. Andrea Bester made the U/14 Springbok side and two of the other riders, Tisha Willemse and Armand van den Berg, both made the Presidents team.

The club is extremely proud of all its riders and congratulated them on their outstanding achievements. Support the club this Saturday at the Newcastle Show Grounds.
