Vryheid Athletics Club – An active weekend for the club
Preparations for the Willem Boschoff race on Sunday, March 15, are well under way. The race, which is held at Natal Spa, promises to be a great, well organized event. Distances of 10, 21 and 42km for runners and walkers of all levels can be entered online, which gives you and your family (max 4) access to the resort for the whole day.
ON SATURDAY, February 21, a number of our athletes participated in the Assegai Race in Piet Retief.
The walkers enjoyed the 10km in warm weather, but finished in time before the conditions turned very hot for the 42km runners. Unfortunately some of the athletes did not complete the tough route. Yvette and Kirsten walked 21 and 10km respectively. It was Yvette’s first race and she went big. We hope to see you both at more of our races. On Sunday, February 22, Pietermartizburg was the other venue. Well done to Cathy Sandalls who bettered her time from the previous day’s race. It was a great race, brilliant weather, overcast and cool and well organized. All of these factors contributed to her 1h16 time on the 10km walk. Well done to Eralda, who ran her first 21km in Pietermaritzburg. Keep our VAC flag flying high.
