DUNDEE police are urgently seeking the public’s assistance after three prisoners escaped from the Dundee Correctional facility on Tuesday, February 24.
According to the Department of Correctional Services in the province, the men had been detained pending the finalisation of their trials prior to their daring escape.
The department’s Thulani Mdluli says Richard Nyangalo Frank from the DRC and Jabu Ncube and Themba Ndlovu, both from Johannesburg, managed to overpower unit officials who had been in their cells at the time.

According to a report by the Northern Natal Courier, the fugitives fired shots at police who attempted to apprehend them, using a woman as a human shield before fleeing the scene.

“The charges that Nyangalo is facing are – assault, five counts of aggravated robbery and four counts of kidnapping. Ncube and Ndlovu are facing charges of aggravated robbery as well.

“At the moment they are at large and we, the Department of Correctional Services, appeal to any member of the public who has information that could lead to the arrest of the detainees to come forward,” he said.
The escapees were allegedly last seen heading for the Madadeni area.
