Dundee fails to make ‘Best Small Town’ list

Dundee does not make the cut...

The website South African Visa Solutions has listed the top 25 small towns in South Africa to visit.

Guess where Dundee (or Glencoe) is on the list? I will give you a hint – nowhere!

With the tagline “The 25 best small towns in South Africa” and the punchy and emotive “Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. And sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.”

You have a feeling you are in for a treat and the site truly delivers in this case. Sadly, for  our area this is a harsh dose of reality

While the town markets itself as the Gateway to the Battlefields, the poor infrastracture, poor roads, mountains of litter have all impacted on the aesthetics.  Which is a hard blow for the many loyal residents here who call Dundee (Glencoe etc.)

Perhaps this will serve as a wake-up call for the powers-that-be….

Meantime, some of the top small towns to make the top 25 include Clanwilliam, Clarens, Coffee Bay, Graaf Reniet while Nottingham Road and Underberg are the only KZN towns mentioned…

At Caxton, every story is written by humans. We use AI only to perform quality checks - never to generate the news. Happy reading!
