One dead in N11 crash

1 person’s life was lost in a horror collision this afternoon on the N11 just outside Elandslaagte, near Ladysmith.

The driver of a Hyundai Elantra travelling towards Ladysmith allegedly lost control in the inclement weather conditions and the vehicle rolled, killing 1 person. The person who was fatally wounded was flung out of the vehicle and died at the scene.

The vehicle went off the road after taking a slight bend, and rolled. It then hit a ditch and rolled further before coming to a standstill.

4 other people were in the vehicle, and they all sustained serious injuries. The injured were treated by paramedics on scene and then transported to hospital.

Police, RTI and EMRS responded to the scene.

Traffic on the N11 was not obstructed, but other motorists had to pass with caution while heavy rain continued to fall.
