Three arrested for driving under the influence

Police clamp down on intoxicated drivers.

Three more people have been arrested in the Dannhauser area for driving under the influence of liquor.

On March 27, Const NP Mathebula pulled over the driver of a white Jetta in the Rutland Farm area.

The driver was smelling of alcohol and could not even stand.

He appeared in court on March 30 and investigations continue.

On March 28, a 27-year-old was arrested by Sgt M Gumede after he was caught drunk and driving.

He too could not stand up straight by himself. He was arrested and charged. Investigations continue.

A 40-year-old male was also arrested by Const P Khumalo at the Dannhauser crossing following an accident.

It is alleged that the driver did not stop at the stop sign and smashed another vehicle. The driver was taken to hospital for blood samples to be taken.

Investigations into the matter continue.
