Dancing competitively at Town Hall

Ballroom and Latin American dancers gathered in numbers to compete in the sport

Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality’s sports section, along with UThukela FEDANSA, hosted a developmental dance competition recently called the Human Rights Dance Festival.

Ballroom and Latin American dancers gathered in numbers at the Town Hall to compete in the sport.

Before the competition began, there were developmental phases where dancers were taught and expertly trained in the different dances, as well as mastering the techniques on different levels. Dancing is recognised as a sport and Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality has sponsored a floating trophy where schools are encouraged to be part of dance.

The school that won the trophy was Mnambithi Primary.  This school and the principal have constantly been supportive of dance as a sport, and lots of young and enthusiastic dancers are from the school.

The moves on the dance floor were breathtakingly beautiful!
