Paper house takes inaugural pro angling league
The top three anglers were Kaveer Singh (20 points); Tony Singh (19 points) and Monty Slabbert (18 points).

The final round of the Vees Micro Enterprises was held on March 29 at Richgate Park. Paper House emerged victors and was crowned the APL League Champions.

The triumphant Paper House team raked up 62 points; followed by Team Streetwire 47 points; the Fishing People and NFH Super Stars on 29 points.
The orange cap was presented to Kaveer Singh while Monty Slabbert held on the purple cap as the overall leader.
The title contenders for the season include Tony Singh (heaviest scaled fish – 3,490 kg); Faizel Seedat (heaviest non-scaled fish – 3,690kg); Shakeel Sheik and Kishore Datadin (heaviestscaly of 650 grams); Monty Slabbert (highest points scorer – 28 points); Shane Mangaroo (crowned Champion of Champion); Harry Singh (Knock Out Champion and Internal KO Singles Champion); Monty Slabbert (League Champion); Avi Buduram (7 points); Kameshen Govender and PreashHaripersad (4 pts each) for Junior Angler of Year; Dan Govender (Senior Angler of the Year on 54 points followed by Whity Maharaj on 33 points) while Monty Slabbert leads the pack with the most fish caught with 50 fish, closely followed by Vicky Bhooli with 47 fish and Ossie Oosthuizen with 44 fish. Rishen Nankoo and Minesh Gopi were crowned as Knock Out Doubles Champion.

The title for the “Angler of the Year” sees Monty Slabbert heading the pack with 105 points, followed by his nearest rival Ossie Oosthuizen on 87 points and Vicky Bhooli on 82 points.
The next competition of the APL will be the Grand Challenge Competition on April 12 at Sandford, followed by the Social Outing Championship on April 18 and 19 at Sandford which is the concluding fixture and will mark the end of a very successful inaugural season under the auspices of the APL. The new season will start on August 1.
