Mondlo’s water woes

MANY might mistake it for dirty river water but this is actually the water Mondlo residents have allegedly been drinking for years.
According to a resident of the area who approached the Vryheid Herald with the complaint this morning, the issue has been a part of their lives for more than three years now.
“We have complained numerous times to the municipality but to no avail,” said this resident.
An unknown mud-like residue sinks to the bottom of a container when the water is left to stand for a while.
The resident said that this was really awful as none of the community members knew what was wrong with the water nor whether it is safe to drink.
This resident also pointed out that while they were paying for this dirty water on a monthly basis, there is clean water gushing out of a certain pipe that municipal workers are said to have been working on.
It is alleged that the workers dug up the pipe in order to install a water meter but after a shortage of materials left the area with water spewing from the damaged pipe.
