On Saturday was the ever-popular Weenen Wildsfees, with people from all over the province flocking to be part of the festivities. There were all sorts of stalls, from clothing, hand-crafted toys and animals to food and fresh produce. The stage was a hive of activity as Lolla-Pikkebolia kicked off the entertainment with some fun for the little ones.

By noon, the Boeresport had everyone on the edge of their seats, with arm-wrestling, tug-of-war, egg races and apple on a string, not forgetting the very popular kududrol-spoeg and whip-cracking. Heinz Winckler performed to a packed audience and his hour-long set left festival-goers wanting more. With so much going on, there was certainly no lack of entertainment. Miss Wildsfees and Mr Spiere caused quite a stir among the spectators, with the ladies gasping as young men flexed their muscles and the dudes in awe of the lovely lasses battling it out for the coveted title.

The evening was rounded off with a live performance by Nadine, and a dinner. Guests were treated to meat pie, koeksusters and freshly baked bread.
