Update: Armed robbery at store in E-section

Shop owner pistol-whipped during armed robbery

Correcting an earlier post, a man was injured in an armed robbery at an Ezakheni store in E-section. The foreign national was, however, not shot but pistol-whipped by robbers.

Mayor Vincent Madlala, as well as a strong contingent of SAPS are at the scene. The mayor was busy in an Exco meeting when he heard of the attack and he rushed to the scene.

It is believed that it was an armed robbery gone wrong and the injured Pakistani national has been transported to hospital.

It is not believed the attack was in any way linked to countrywide xenophobic attacks.

We will update this story as we have more info. Journalists are at the scene.
