Dynamic racing couple rev it up
"After Shaukat started racing, I started getting an itch to race as well. I am just thankful and lucky that I have a husband who shares the same passion as me," she said.
A family that races together, stays together.
Husband and wife, Shaukat and Zaakira Khan have proved this after they recently sped onto the Oval Track.
Shaukat became involved in the Oval Track scene through his love for cars and racing.
“One day, we were having lunch and I decided to join the Oval Track.
“It was a total spur of the moment decision,” he laughed. Zaakira said she also always had a passion for cars and when the women’s division opened, she was only too eager to join.
“After Shaukat started racing, I started getting an itch to race as well. I am just thankful and lucky that I have a husband who shares the same passion as me,” she said.
Shaukat races in the 1660 and two-litre division, while Zaakira puts pedal to the metal in the 1600 category.
With the couple showing their worth on the track, they joked their three-year-old son, Uzair, might be joining them on the track when he was old enough.
“He is crazy about cars and wants to race,” Zaakira laughed.
While the couple are living out their love of racing, would they encourage anyone else to join the Oval Track fold?
“Definitely, it is a safe sport which can be done with the entire family,” Shaukat concluded.
