For a Barry Hertzog Park family, Tuesday morning will forever be remembered as the day men disguised as police officers ransacked their family home.
According to police sources, at approximately 9am an unconfirmed number of suspects, believed to be four, approached the home in full police uniforms.
The suspects allegedly explained they had been investigating businesses in the central business district (CBD) and residential areas.
“They said they had been looking into illegally operating businesses,” said the police source.
Upon gaining entry, the suspects proceeded to hold up the victims up at gun point, and then tie them up.
They then ransacked the house and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police sources have advised the community to be on the lookout for these suspects, and be wary of any police officer who wants to search your home without a search warrant.
“An officer must be able to produce a warrant, and if not, they should be able to the produce their ID documents, or SAPS appointment cards (shields).”
