BREAKING NEWS: Brave bystander foils brazen daylight robbery

QUICK thinking and a swift response by a courageous community member as well as the police, Vryheid Neighbourhood Watch and Pro5 led to the arrest of a would-be thief this morning in Market Street.

The brazen bandit was apprehended by Sibusiso Mthethwa after he made off with cash from, Dinangwe, a popular eatery near the Vryheid Herald office. Mthethwa was passing by when he heard the cries for help and responded to assist the distressed shop owner who informed him that they had been held up and robbed at gunpoint by the suspect.

He bravely gave chase and apprehended the thief, while authorities responded to a call from Bonita Van Niekerk at Kambula Electrical, who reported the incident upon hearing the commotion.
