Six die in accident near Vryheid

Six people died and 11 were seriously injured in an accident in a crash involving a bakkie which reportedly overturned yesterday evening, provincial emergency services said.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie confirmed in a statement to ENCA that KZN Emergency Medical Services, responded to the Vryheid/Nongoma road yesterday where there was a crash involving this bakkie.

“Sadly six people have died in the crash and paramedics treated a further eleven patients, who had survived the crash. The patients had sustained mostly serious injuries,” said Mckenzie.

The injured were taken to surrounding hospitals including Vryheid hospital, for further treatment.

Police are still investigating the crash.
