Tannie Sarie calls time on her outstanding innings
Her innings then drew to a close as the irrepressible, Nicky Dannhauser, took her for last formal dance.
For 22 years, Tannie Sarie Bezuidenhout has been the mother figure at the historic Dundee and District Club.
On Friday members paid homage to this legend by bidding farewell at a party where they showered her with gifts, including a gold wrist watch. President, Wayne Honiball, said the ‘tannie will be sadly missed’ and thanked her for her tireless dedication.
Sarie took over from her late husband, Monty, who was also the manager of the club. Her son, Pierre (fondly known as Oorlog) is currently head barman.
Tannie Sarie is a lady of few words but she did say that she ‘hoped members behave themselves’. Her innings then drew to a close as the irrepressible, Nicky Dannhauser, took her for last formal dance.
