Stock Theft Unit nab cattle crook

The cattle were returned to the farmer before he even knew they were missing.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing 13 cattle valued at R130 000 from a farm in the Nquthu area.

The Stock Theft Unit arrested the man after receiving information that he had been selling stolen cattle.

He was found with nine stolen cattle in his possession.

The unit recovered 11 cattle in total from their raid and returned them to the farmer before he even realized they had been missing.

He then opened a case of theft. The cattle theft culprit was then brought to book.

The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the arrest.

“ Stock theft has become a huge problem in our province and the arrest of the man might decrease theft of livestock in the area,” she said.
