Update: Missing girls found after police manhunt

Police tracked a cell-phone to a house in the Egerton area

When two women went missing last week, it sparked a massive police manhunt.

The missing 18-year-olds have both since been found. The teens were reported missing last Tuesday and could not be reached as their cell-phones were allegedly turned off.

The first teen was found near the RTI base on Friday night. She was returned to her parents, unharmed.

On Saturday afternoon, Dog Unit (K9), Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Crime Intelligence Gathering (CIG) officers raided a house in the Egerton area, where they found the other missing teen, in the home of a wanted suspect.

Police had tracked a cell-phone of the wanted man to the house.

When police raided the house, both the teen and a 26-year-old man were hiding in the home belonging family. The teen was hiding in a cupboard. The man’s parents were at home and were aware that the two were in the house.

It was only after police entered the house that the couple came out of hiding.

The man, who was wanted by police in connection with a fraud case in Rosebank, was arrested. He is scheduled to appear this morning (Monday) in court. The teen was safely returned to her family. It is not believed she is in any way linked to the charges the man faces or was even aware that he was a wanted suspect.
