Nquthu gunman sentenced to life for murder

Hitman sentenced for his crimes.

The hitman in the horror Nquthu shooting, Sibongiseni Mdakane has been found guilty of all charges against him.

The Pietermaritzburg High Court sentenced him to life imprisonment for killing a teacher, 18 years imprisonment for killing a learner, eight years for attempting to kill another learner, five years for possession of unlicensed firearm and three years for possession of ammunition without a license.

The Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni is pleased with the sentence handed down to the accused who brutally killed innocent victims just because he was hired to do so.

‘This is a fitting sentence to criminals like Mdakane who have no mercy and do not care about the life of other innocent people.

The case against his co-accused Mbhekiseni Khambule was remanded by the Nquthu Magistrate’s Court until 14 July 2015 for bail application,’ she said.
