Update: Illegal strike outside Corporate Services

Human excrement was thrown on the floor at the entrance to the Corporate Services building and a fire truck had to be used to wash away the faeces

An illegal strike was held outside the Department of Corporate Services, behind Public Safety, earlier today (Friday).

It seems that the strikers’ grievances involved a contract that was terminated in the engineering department. The workers want the contract reinstated or be given permanent jobs in the engineering department.

It is believed that 1 man was the instigator of the strike action and that he had the support of about 100 other workers.

The man threw human excrement on the floor at the entrance to the Corporate Services building and a fire truck had to be used to wash away the faeces.

The entrance to the premises was blocked off with boulders so that nobody could enter.

Public Safety officers responded to the scene, as well as police (including the Ladysmith K9 Unit).
