Ash’s modelling school and dance academy hits the stage

If you would like to know more, contact Ashna at 083 456 9494 or Meenu on 081 270 5897.

When one takes a dash of passion, a tot of grace and mixes them with spoonfuls of glamour, the end result will be none other than Ash’s Modelling School and Dance Academy.

Ash’s modelling school and dance academy (the dance academy is not yet operational) was founded by Ashna Thotha and was born out of her immense desire to bring activity to the youth.

“I thought of something for the young people to do as people always say there is nothing for the youth in Glencoe/Dundee. I know there are other modelling schools but my modelling school was still born,” Ashna enthused.
Ashna is no stranger to the world of modelling and spent her earlier days on the ramps. Sadly her modelling career was short-lived due to personal circumstances.
This has not deterred her and she has lived her passion and dream through her children. She did this by enrolling her eldest son in modelling and he also worked his way on the ramps and soon cat-walked up to SA Pageants.
He too left modelling to go on to new things. Ashna hopes to take her modelling school to new heights and have her models join agencies, have her own modelling magazine and develop her young models and cultivate their dreams into careers.
Ashna, however is not alone and is joined by Meenu Singh, her partner, friend and modelling instructor.
Her involvement started off by helping a friend with a new idea but soon reignited her love, passion and desire for the modelling world. Meenu is also not a stranger to modelling and has a certificate from Silhouette models (a former modelling school) under her belt. During her run with Silhouette models, she did courses in ramp modelling, etiquette, make-up and dressing.
She too left the world of modelling after getting married and beginning a new life. But she is back and back with a bang. When asked how it feels to be back, her eyes sparkled and she explained, ” it is very exciting to be back, I’m in the recycling business and can’t really be ladylike or like a model but teaching these children gives me that chance again.”
Her daughter, Sonishka Singh is following in her mom’s high-heeled footsteps but offers yoga rather than modelling.
Although she is only 16 – don’t be fooled she is unlike most teenagers – she follows a strict yoga regime as instructed by her spiritual leader. She arises at 4am every morning to hone her yoga craft and has done so for three years.

She offers this service as well at Ash’s modelling school and dance academy. Though Soniskha is not professional, she does have a lot of experience and is willing to share. She also offers Zumba lesson which is a latin fitness dance.
It is more exhilarating and is sure to shed pounds.
Ash’s modelling school and dance academy is bringing a fresh new wave of activities to Endumeni.
