Patel sisters prepare to launch literary haven
It has been said that a book is a dream you could hold in your hands, if that is true, Newcastle is will be able to share their dreams within the next two weeks.
Hidden in the pages of books lies a world of dreams and adventure; a world where anything is possible and emotions run free.
In 2014, Haseena and Shameema Patel dreamed of forming a book exchange club that would unite bookworms in the cause of resurrecting a passion for books, a cause they thought would benefit the community as a whole.
The dream has now become a reality, with the sisters having found a location.
“Imphupu has allowed us to use one of their side stores,” said Haseena, who is thrilled the book club is now taking shape.
Armed with a selection of genres to feed the average book junkie’s literary addiction, Shameema said they were hoping to open the book exchange club’s doors in two weeks time.
“It is really exciting. It was a vision that we had and it is becoming a reality. This is for the community and there will be no membership fees,” Shameema emphasised.
Enthusiastic readers need only to bring a book to the club in order to exchange it for another.
“Books are expensive and this will give people the opportunity to continue having access to books,” Haseena said.
At the moment, the sisters are preparing the empty store that will become a literary haven for Newcastilians.
“A set of shelves has been sponsored to us, but we are looking for two more sets of shelves for the books,” Shameema said.
