From Taiwan with love
The Taiwanese Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation recently received 4000 bags of rice from Taiwan, for the purpose of aiding the poor and keeping hunger pangs at bay
More than 500 bags of rice weighing 10 kilograms each, were donated to the underprivileged last Sunday.
The Taiwanese Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation recently received 4000 bags of rice from Taiwan, for the purpose of aiding the poor and keeping hunger pangs at bay, which is exactly what the organisation did when they visited Blaauwbosch, Vaalbank in Utrecht and Ingagane.
Tzu Chi further donated scarves, beanies and warm socks to the needy to ward off the winter chills.
In Blaauwbosch, the Tzu Chi Foundation made further donations to The Children is our future centre.
Jabu Nkonyane, founder of the centre, said they not only cater for pre-schoolers, but also for underprivileged and destitute children.
“We have 10 orphans living here and 60 children from less fortunate families. While we are struggling to ensure the children are fed, we give them a basic education for free or for a small fee if their families can afford it.”
Lindy Yue of the Tzu Chi Foundation said as children were the future, it was imperative they were cared for accordingly.
“Children need to be cultivated, educated and cared for. We as adults and parents also need to be role models and lead by example so children can know the difference between right and wrong.”
The foundation will continue with its campaign of distributing rice and warm clothing for the remainder of the winter season, ensuring the needy know their plight has not gone unnoticed.
