Truck driver killed in R69 tragedy

The R69, between Louwsburg and Pongola, claimed the life of a man on Wednesday morning at approximately 11:00am.

According to reports, the deceased was crushed under the weight of the truck, after he lost control of the vehicle while travelling down a steep hill.

It is believed that the truck jack-knifed and overturned, subsequently crushing the cab of the truck beneath the weight of its load.

The driver sustained severe injuries, tragically succumbing to these shortly after the tragic accident occurred. Heavy rescue was called in to assist with the recovery of the body of the deceased.
