Cherrykab’s got the power
The band recently released a parody of their hit single 'We Got The Power' called 'No Power' which makes light (see what they did there?) of the current load shedding problem. 'No Power' is well on its way to 2000 views on YouTube since featuring on East Coast Radio's Breakfast Show recently.
It’s no secret that Vryheid can quite proudly boast some great musical talent and Cherrykab is certainly no exception.
Talented frontman, Kelvin Alston, who was born in Vryheid, smoulders on vocals, lending to the band’s unique and original sound, as well as playing backing guitar for the band. Dean Crichton sets the pace on drums and brothers, Danny and Doulton Robson complete the band on lead and bass guitar respectively. This is Cherrykab.
Cherrykab was formed in 2008. The band’s first two singles, ‘Head Over Heels‘ and ‘We Got The Power‘ have been playlisted on high rotation on radio stations nationwide such as Highveld, Algoa FM, KFM, East Coast Radio and more, as well as overseas in America, Australia, New Zealand and London. ‘We Got The Power’ reached No 3 on the Algoa FM Top 30. This is no small feat for any musician on the South African music scene, however, Johannesburg-based Cherrykab is well on their way to making it big.
