Have you entered for one of Newcastle’s toughest events?

Better get cracking, as the 22nd Paruks Hardware Blood Buddy Memel to Newcastle Event is just two weeks away!

August 1 is the day to mark on your calendar.

Companies, individuals and avid sportspeople can still enter into the 50-kilometre walk, the 50km relay event for five members, or the 50km run.

The gruelling run is a qualifier for the Two Oceans and Comrades marathons respectively.

Setting off from the Memel NG Church and ending at the Newcastle Show Grounds, organisers have also invited the public to bring pets along.

More information about this new twist will be revealed closer to the time.

The animal theme this year is a result of the efforts of the Dream Team Cause for the Paws, raising funds for the SPCA and for emergency medical assistance for animals.

For more information, contact leader, Susan Pitout on 084 492 9588.

Previous entrants into the Memel Walk might remember Johan Basson and Armand Myburgh, the self-titled 2 Tjops who walked in Speedos to raise funds for children without school shoes.

The Tjops are at it again this year – contact Armand on 083 393 5199 to pledge support.

Entries for the 22nd Memel Walk are available online at www.memelwalk.co.za and entries close on July 25 – alternatively, call 034 318 1888.
