Popular maskandi artist dies after long illness

A tragic loss of a great maskandi artist after a long battle.

Mtshengiseni ‘Indidane’ Gcwensa, the award winning maskandi artist from the Msinga area, died yesterday at Dr Fourie’s Mpati Clinic.

His death follows a long battle with an illness.

Mtshengiseni was admitted to the clinic on July 21, when his condition was reportedly ‘very bad’.

He has been a patient at the clinic for a very long time. “He didn’t have any other doctor besides us,” said a source at the clinic.

Mtshengiseni has won numerous awards during his career and is regarded as one of the best maskandi artists.

He is the founding member of the award winning maskandi group ‘Amageza Amahle’.

Funeral arrangements are still unknown at this stage.
