Update: Protesters still blocking roads in Ezakheni
The new road from Protea Drive to the Pieters intersection has also been closed by protesters
The protests in Ladysmith continued this morning (Monday)…
Roads leading into Ezakheni are blocked with rocks, burning tyres and tree branches.
Students from nearby schools joined the protests, as they were not able to get to school. The students gathered near Ekuhuleni High School, where they too started protesting.
Police responded to the scene and cleared the students from the roads. The children left and went back to their homes.
The new road leading from Protea Drive to the Pieters intersection is also closed.
The Roosboom road (R103), however, is open.
