Mayor in hot water for gay comments
District Mayor slammed for homophobic comments.

Umzinyathi District Mayor, James Mthethwa has found himself in hot water following a comment he made about homosexual people.
Mayor Mthethwa was speaking at a Community Health Work Training Project, when he was quoted as saying that homosexuality “brings shame to our communities”.
Mayor Mthethwa added that according to a survey done by the district municipality, the HIV prevalence rate among homosexuals in the region has reached 33% from 22% last year.
The comments have angered a lot of people who slammed the Mayor for his homophobic speech.
