Hill2Hill race an uphill climb for the ‘Racing Snakes’

It was a gruelling 100km race in cool, damp weather that set the boys (and girls!) apart from the men and women! No broken seat clamp, muscle burning uphill or gut clenching downhill could stop these guys, so well done for completing this.

ON SUNDAY, September 13, a group of mountain bikers participated in the the Sunday Tribune Hill2Hill race from Hilton to Hillcrest.

It was a gruelling 100km race in cool, damp weather that set the boys (and girls!) apart from the men and women! The results were as follows:

  • Jacques Odendaal 04:30:19;
  • Willem Richter 04:45:29;
  • Everett and Sandra Haywood 05:07:52;
  • Gerhard Engelbrecht 05:15:41 and
  • Zauco van den Berg 05:29:12.

No broken seat clamp, muscle burning uphill or gut clenching downhill could stop these guys, so well done for completing this.

Riaan and Lize Swanepoel also participated in the Dullstroom Ashburton MTB Series. They completed the 75km marathon in 3:56 and 4:29 respectively. The conditions were cool and wet and the route was of a technical nature. Congratulations, you did very well. The women’s race was won by Robyn de Groot. The Ashburton is a National series where many pro athletes compete. Riaan and Lize also completed the half marathon on Sunday (Riaan 2:03 and Lize 2:18), also in misty conditions – typical Dullstroom weather.

We are looking forward to seeing these athletes compete in the Berg n Bush stage race in October!
