Dead cows left to decompose next to road

Carcasses have been scavenged by wild animals and dogs from the nearby community.

Three dead cows have been left to slowly decompose on the side of the Wasbank Road between Ekuvukeni and Wasbank.

It is believed the prolonged drought may have caused the animals to die.  With little water to drink and little grazing, the animals simply keeled over.

Ironically, this morning (when the photos were taken), one of the dead animals was found in a pool of water.

One of the three cows has almost completely decomposed with just the hide and bones left.
