Spreading the festive spirit

RSA Feeding Project, in conjunction with Blackrock Casino, hosted a Christmas party at the Sathya School on Friday.

RSA Feeding Project, in conjunction with Blackrock Casino, hosted a Christmas party at the Sathya School on Friday.

RSA Feeding Project feeds 352 children in Newcastle and Dundee, of which the Sathya Sai School is one of the organisation’s beneficiaries.

“We have been hosting the Christmas Party annually since 2010,” explained RSA Feeding Project’s CEO, Darius Jordaan.

Mr Jordaan said the purpose of the party was to spoil the children, who mostly hailed from underprivileged families.

“This is for the children, because they don’t often get to celebrate the festive season the same way we do. On the day, we give the children gifts, sweet boxes, hygiene packs, as well as have jumping castles and face painting.”

Veneshrie Chetty, Marketing Manager of Blackrock Casino, said the casino had been involved with the organisation previously.

“As the children come mainly from the Siyahlala-la Informal Settlement, they are not always exposed to activities such as this and we would just like to give them a Christmas party to remember.”

The children were delighted and enjoyed themselves thoroughly, as they broke away from their usual school routine to embrace the spirit of giving.

Mr Jordaan thanked Blackrock Casino and other sponsors for making the day possible and allowing the children to experience the meaning of Christmas.
