Key player provides business advice

After discussing upcoming events, franchise owner, Sue Law conducted an insightful presentation. She discussed the pros and cons of managing a business like Mugg & Bean

The Newcastle Business Forum hosted a networking evening at Mugg & Bean on October 12.

After discussing upcoming events, franchise owner, Sue Law conducted an insightful presentation. She discussed the pros and cons of managing a business like Mugg & Bean; an eatery that has fast become a hot spot for caffeine addicts.

“I never thought I’d go with a franchise because I’ve always been a free spirit,” she said. “I realised in business, structure is very important.”

Falling under the Famous Brands group, Mrs Law has come to understand what it takes to make it as an entrepreneur. Despite finding it difficult to answer to someone else, she finds the stringent rules and regulations ‘refreshing’.

The proof is in the pudding

Mugg & Bean recently received a 100 per cent rating by a mystery shopper. With a staff complement of 25, training and stellar service delivery are of the utmost importance.

The store is inspected regularly, and samples are collected from appliances and sent for analysis to ensure the kitchen and respective working environments are free from bacteria.

“They close stores if there are serious problems,” she explained.

The restaurant launched its new menu earlier this week. Decadent smoothies, green tea chai, as well as gluten-free muffins are among the new fixtures created with the health-conscious in mind.

Mrs Law thanked all those who showed their support to date. She was grateful and humbled by the opportunity to tell her success story.

“If you’re hungry, Mugg & Bean should be your first stop,” she concluded.
