Toy Story: Newcastle beats Its own record

The annual East Coast Radio Toy Story with Game took place on October 23 at Newcastle Mall.

The annual East Coast Radio Toy Story with Game took place on October 23 at Newcastle Mall.

The initiative was to raise funds and collect toys for KwaZulu-Natal’s State hospitals, orphanages and crĂ©ches Hosted and broadcasted live by ECR’s Jane Linley-Thomas, the event sparked excitement around the mall.

Residents and businesses from all surrounding areas stepped up to the plate in the annual fund-raiser, and proved what a strong and caring community they are. And they did not disappoint, as Newcastle managed to collect a whopping total of R206 895, beating last year’s record of R180 000.

The five biggest donors were:

1. Enza Construction: R50 000.

2. Transnet Buses: R20 000.

3. Leach van der Walt: R10 000.

4. Phumaf Consulting Engineers: R10 000.

5. Lekwa: R10 000.

Newcastle thanked all the generous people who gave a donation towards changing a little child’s life. To them you have given the world.
