Downpour in Hattingspruit leads to flash floods… but Endumeni is dry

Spotty rainfall - the El Nino effect...

The fickleness of the El Nino effect has been overwhelming marked.  Hattingspruit, barely 13km from Dundee, had a downpour on Monday where 82 mm fell in tw0 hours yesterday.

Beth Pickett of the area, who took the photos, said: “That’s as much as I measured with a broken rain gauge. And it’s pouring again today hampering mopping up operations!”

In Dundee, 4mm was measured on Saturday and about as much on Monday.  However, in another part of Hattingspruit 27mm was measured.
