Newcastle bids tearful farewell to Dr Umesh Dhanjee
After a long battle with cancer, Dr Umesh Dhanjee has passed away.

Newcastle sadly mourns the tragic passing of Dr Umesh Dhanjee, a renowned orthopedic surgeon.
He played an integral part in the Newcastle community and in our hospitals.
Dr Dhanjee is remembered for his kind bedside manner, politeness and outstanding expertise as a surgeon. At the young age of 51, Dr Dhanjee sadly lost his battle to cancer in the early hours of this morning.
For 20 years Dr Dhanjee called Newcastle home, before emigrating to Australia in 2011.
His recent trip to Newcastle would be the last time he shared with his closest family and friends. He is survived by his four children and wife, who will deeply miss his presence.
Dr Dhanjee’s funeral service will take place tomorrow, October 30, at Richview Civic Hall from 11am. Later, it will proceed to the Newcastle Crematorium at 1.30pm.
