Stokvel members robbed of R38,000
Three armed suspects entered the house and demanded cash

Stokvel club members were robbed while sharing out money at one of the members’ homes in Ekuvukeni on Wednesday.
The homeowner, along with six other Stokvel members, were busy sharing out the money when three armed suspects entered the house and demanded cash.
They took R38,000 in cash and five cell-phones before fleeing the scene on foot. No one was injured.
Ekuvukeni police are investigating a case of house robbery.
As the festive season is around the corner, Stokvel members are warned to be vigilant when dealing with large sums of cash.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, has condemned the robbery.
“We would like to warn all Stokvel members to take extra precautions when dealing with large amounts of cash, as these types of cases are very prevalent during the festive season when members are sharing money.
“The members can arrange with the banks and deposit their cash into their accounts. The community must not withdraw large amounts of cash,” she said.
