Vryheid Cricket Club – Dumbe crowned festival winners
Four local club teams participated and, after two days of fun cricket, Dumbe were crowned winners after beating Wicket Wasps in the final.
LAST weekend, Vryheid Cricket Club held a cricket festival at Cecil Emmett.
It was a 10 over a side format, where each player, besides the wicket keeper bowls. It is much liked format for players and spectators alike. Four local club teams participated and, after two days of fun cricket, Dumbe were crowned winners after beating Wicket Wasps in the final.
Some fantastic prizes were donated by the following businesses: Inyanga Motors; Battery Centre; Mascor; Build It; Ritchie Auto; Wimpy and TFS Wholesalers. A big thank you to these businesses for your support and contributions toward the cricketing community!
Individual prizes were handed to these players for their achievements over the weekend: Most runs – Charle Beneke (Dumbe); Most Wickets was shared by Connor High (Wicket Wasps) and Anton Beneke (Dumbe), Best Fielder – Leon Solms (Dumbe); biggest 6 – Ludwig Niebuhr (Dumbe); Best Supporter – Marcel Hinze (Dumbe) and Veteran of the Weekend – John Beghin (Gladiators).
