The water levels in Spioenkop Dam continue to plummet, having gone from 66% last month to 59% this week, as the worst drought in 35 years continues to ravage Ladysmith.

Last year this time, the dam was 80% full, thanks to summer rains.

These photos and video, taken on Sunday, show how devastatingly low the dam’s water levels are.

The normal boat launch area is a staggering 150m away from the fast-receding water level.
