Potentially lethal and certainly destructive, describes the contraption that pierced through a vehicle’s windscreen in Elizabeth Avenue last Wednesday. A wooden stick with a solid metal and plastic firework attached to it soared through the air and was deeply lodged into the windscreen.

The resident who owns the car said that he heard a loud sound, “as if the vehicle had collided with the wall.” When he woke to investigate, he was devastated to discover the damage caused by the flying hazard.

What worries the resident is that this fireworks contraption, with a sharp wooden stick and solid metal and hard plastic coating, could have injured a person.

“What if this went into a human’s head? Or through a window and struck someone while they were inside? This metal and plastic coating is very dangerous,” commented the resident.

The damage to the windscreen set him back R2 500. In conclusion, the exasperated resident said: “Fireworks should be banned completely. This is terrible.”
