In one of the most exciting developments in the area in years, 72 housing units are to be built on 6.6 hectares of prime land at the entrance to Glencoe.
The Humana Housing Development is already been marketed as free-hold sites and are selling ‘off plan’ from R650 000 per unit.
The variations can include two or three bedrooms and a garage – if needed. The only stipulation is that Humana Construction must be used by buyers to ensure continuity in design and aesthetics.
CP Momberg, who has over 40 years experience in the construction business, is the project manager and is eager to kick-start the development as soon as possible.
The land, owned by Dave and Elmarie van der Westhuizen of the former Sports School of SA, is a crescent shape, bordered by Karel Landman Street and Simpson Drive.
“We are paying R1.8-million to the municipality to upgrade the feeder cables for electricity to the complex and, of course, the surrounding areas will benefit from the electrical upgrade,” Mr Momberg said.

“The main banks, ABSA, FNB, Standard and Nedbank, have already given an undertaking to secure 25% of the bonds.”
Studies done show that there is a big demand for the units with no middle and upper-income housing units built in the area for several years, Mr van der Westhuizen said.
An open day (see advert on this page) will be held on December 5 to launch the scheme to the public.
