Capturing a person in a sketch
His drawings are incredible in their accuracy and attention to detail
26-year-old Wiseman Sithebe has a passion for drawing. He can just look at you and do a pencil sketch of you, as you are. Wiseman started drawing when he was in Grade 8. He always admired nature and its beauty, so one day he decided to pick up a pencil and see if he could capture some of that beauty on paper.
That metamorphosed into drawing people, children and animals.
His drawings are incredible in their accuracy and attention to detail. It takes Wiseman about an hour to draw a person, as he takes his time and makes sure he captures their essence. He pays attention to little things that set people apart, such as the nose, eyebrows, curve of the mouth, etc.
Wiseman actually makes his living from drawing and selling his creations to those who admire his handiwork and God-given talent. He has many regular customers who are intrigued with what he can come up with and are constantly providing him with a new project.
Wiseman has a bubbly personality, which makes it easier for him to get along with people in general.
“There is no day on which I take a break. I am always drawing something when I don’t have anything else pressing to do. It’s my life, my love and how I make my living at the end of the day,” smiles a hardworking Wiseman.
He goes through dozens of pencils and erasers in his quest to draw the perfect drawing and not only be paid for it in money, but to see the admiration on people’s faces.
The latter is equally if not more rewarding than the monetary compensation for his artistic efforts.
“Drawing is my hobby and also my job, so I don’t really work a day in my life. I love what I do and it just comes naturally. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world,” reflects Wiseman.
